I posted about this place below a few months ago… but there’s been an update: The price has dropped from $125,000 to $99,900. This is a 3,200 sqft 6-bedroom brick mansion. The description says it needs some rehab, but the photos don’t look too bad. Really, even if you had to spend another $100,000 on renovations, I’d think you’d still have a deal on your hands.
Here’s another place just down the street at 196 North 20th… $94,900 short sale, 1971 sqft, 4 bedrooms, 1 full, 2 half baths. Sounds like it’s a fixer-upper too, but the price is low enough to make it worth while.
And yet another one on 20th. I can’t say I’m a fan of the greenish aluminum siding, but I’m sure someone out there might like it. Sounds like it’s pretty much move in ready from the descriptions and photos, and $85k for a 1623 sqft 2 bed 2 bath is a nice price.
This place is located on Miami and the interior looks quite dated. But for $64,900, anyone could afford to update it. 1768 sqft, 4 beds, 1 bath.

I really like these homes. They all have great potential. I also like the fact they are in the Bronzeville district. That localitly is really undergoing a transformation and rebirth.
It’s exciting to see what I can and should potentially become. I’ve grown up on the side of town my whole life.
I will have to drive by there one evening to get another feel for the streets. Those NOBO’s are nice, but the architectural finishes feel too cheap for my tastes.
I agree with Walker. The Olde Towne East and Kind – Lincoln neighborhoods offer exceptional values on beautiful homes. They don’t build them like these anymore. As a Realtor, and an OTE resident, I can help you purchase your historic home in a wonderful neighborhood.
Carl, it’s definitely still a bit “street-by-street” over here. Some streets are lined with homes that have been restored, while other streets have many that are vacant and boarded up and waiting for rehabbers.
So anyway, still very “up-and-coming”, but you can’t beat the prices for being so close to downtown amenities.
