There’s a new feature in the Columbus Dispatch Weekender that started a few weeks ago called “Where I Eat”. The article is formatted as a interview and highlights a local person here in Columbus and where their favorite places to dine can be found.
So a few weeks ago I got a call from Kevin Joy, a reporter for the Dispatch who wanted to interview me for the article. He mentioned that he’s read the Columbus Underground and likes it, so that sort of thing is always encouraging to hear.
At the time of the interview, only one other person (Lisa of Restaurant Widow) had done the feature, so I made sure to study her answers and eliminate any of my own favorites so as to not repeat everything she already said. Sadly, this knocked out quite a few of my spots such as The North Market, Pistachio, and El Arepazo.
Anyway, I was still left with a load of my favorite restaurants to talk about, so I did. It’s always interesting to see how your words get transcribed from a phone interview and edited and trimmed to fit into quotes for a newspaper article. Kevin did a great job with what I gave him, and I look forward to seeing what other people have to say in this fun little series.
