This Saturday, a panel of local bloggers will be sitting down for some Q&A with Mayor Coleman and five City Council candidates. I’ll be there to ask a few, so now I pose the question to you all of… what should I ask?
Personally, I’d like to know more about plans for the Streetcars and the City Center, but that’s just me.
What else?
Since I can’t go (I’m ridiculously bummed), I’ll just leave a few questions here…
1) It’s 8am on Sunday morning. You’re standing at the corner of Broad and High. Where do you go to get a cup of coffee?
2) Having traveled throughout the country and seeing many thriving, vibrant downtowns, one thing always emerges as a common thread. They are all centered around the pedestrian and mass transit infrastructure. How do you propose to build Columbus’ auto-centric downtown into a similarly thriving, vibrant environment in the absence of adequate mass transit?
3) How would you characterize your relationship with ODOT? When do you think they will realize that the “T” in their name means more than highways?
4) What is holding Columbus back from reaching its true potential?
5) Would the city ever consider pushing for state-level sprawl-limiting regulation similar to Oregon’s urban growth boundary?
Have fun man…wish I could make it!
