Unique Arts Festival features local artists
The Franklinton Arts District (FAD) is resurrecting the popular community arts celebration Urban Scrawl, September 27, 2008 from 10am-7pm at Dodge Park in the heart of Franklinton. This free event features artists creating works on 4’X8’ panels throughout the day and give guests the opportunity to see artists at work. Also on tap will be a skateboard competition with prizes from local businesses, performances by local DJ’s and bands including the popular Columbus group Flotation Walls.
Urban Scrawl will also give guests to the event the opportunity to create their our work of art by painting on the Community Panel. An arts and crafts sale with works by local artisans will round out the event giving guests the opportunity to purchase their own works of art and support the local arts community.
Some of this years participating Artists include: Craig Dransfield, Adam Crum, Joey Monsoon, Derek Stewart and Nikos Fyodor Rutkowski (also the creator of the event).
The purpose of Urban Scrawl is to highlight the Franklinton Area and provide opportunities for artists to connect with the Central Ohio community. “Urban Scrawl is the key event of our group that brings together residents of Franklinton, local artists and reintroduce Franklinton to Columbus residents,” commented Nikos Fyodor Rutkowski FAD president and creator of Urban Scrawl.
Hey I have a myspace but don’t remember the address can send it tomorrow. I have a portable Graffiti wall that I set up at events. The wall is 8′ x 16′ currently and it keeps growing. Some of the upcoming events are Woodshock and Street Life Tour in Oct. My question is how could I become a part of this event? This is exactly the kind of shows I am trying to set up and paint. Let me know. You can also email me at wriff138@yahoo.com
