Anne & Desi & I attended the 2008 Apron Gala on Saturday evening. It was our first time participating in this annual fundraiser for the North Market, and I think we’re going to be making it a yearly thing from now on.
Basically, this event is like having the whole North Market to yourself for an afterhours party. It’s a very casual event for being their biggest fundraiser (I wore jeans and a tie), and there’s a great crowd mingling about, chatting, and eating, and having a great time. Nearly all of the vendors participate and have a variety of great foods set out for people to fill up on. We got to try plenty of the great new items from all corners of the market. They also had an open bar with beer, wine, and champaign, a silent auction full of local gift items, and an Apron contest, in which Desi won “Best Male Apron” (Anne made his cute owl apron by hand) and Anne’s Aunt Erika won “Best Female Apron” (she wore a homemade lobster apron).
Anyway, below are some photos that we took while there. Already looking forward to next year!
