I’ve got a few quotes in yesterday’s edition of This Week News about Oktoberfest. It really only touches upon the basics of how I feel about the festival not taking place in German Village, but I think David Cross did a great job of coveying the important aspect of what I was trying to get across. Check out the article below, and click here to read a more indepth look at why Schiller Park is actually doable as a venue for Oktoberfest.
Schiller too small to host Oktoberfest

DAVID J. CROSSFor some, Schiller Park is the perfect place for the German Village Society’s annual Oktoberfest and an opportunity to showcase the entire community.
Walker Evans, who recently moved out of the village, sees Oktoberfest as a way to draw people into the area, and spur commerce at local businesses.
“I think in the long term it would be better for German Village,” Walker said. “If they (festival goers) come down for the festival and get a taste for the area they are more willing to come back.”
“I think it would just give more of a community feel to the festival,” Walker said. “When I go to festivals in other communities, the best ones have deep roots in the area.”
