Metropolitan Club rolls out forum for younger folks

Two terms irritate me: young professionals and aging. One sounds exclusive, the other doddering. But Greg Schultz and his Columbus Metropolitan Club colleagues don’t mean to imply either as they plan the topics for CMCpm — the new version of the venerable Wednesday lunchtime program at the Athletic Club of Columbus on E. Broad Street.

Just as the Wednesday forums are open to anyone for a price — $35 for nonmembers — CMCpm doesn’t discriminate. And it’s less expensive: $10 for nonmembers. The programs are scheduled after work, a more reasonable time than a two-hour chunk in the middle of the workday.

On Tuesday, the second in a four-part series of “pm” programs will focus on the city’s image — “Columbus Identity Crisis” — and how to better brand the action in Cow Town.

(I still like this comment on Columbusunderground.com: “‘I vote we keep our name the way it is, and if anyone says, ‘Columbus, Georgia?’ when you say where you’re from, simply hit them with a snappy ‘OHIO, (expletive form of dummy)!’ and disgustedly roll your eyes to say ‘As if.’ “)
