Headed to the Lincoln Theatre Today

The Lincoln Theatre just held their ribbon-cutting cermony on Thursday and today they’re hosting free open-house tours of the building from 1pm-4pm. Anne & Desi & I are planning on walking over to check it out in a bit. The theater has been empty for nearly 30 years, and this undoubtedly marks the return of something special to the neighborhood.

We bought our house right around the corner from the Lincoln, knowing that it was in the process of reopening. This is sure to bring a lot of new visitors to the neighborhood, and should continue to spur growth and development in the King-Lincoln District.

Right next door to the building are the awesome Hamilton Park condos, and across the street is the gateway building that houses a coffee shop, a dry cleaners, and offices. There is a restaurant space for lease there, so hopefully the new foot traffic from the theater can entice a restauranteur to fill that space soon.

I’m just happy to say that my block just got a lot more exciting this weekend. ;)
