Have you ever heard of the DRACIES?

I heard about them last year, but for one reason or another I didn’t really think too much about them. The “Dracies” (pronounced DRACK-EES) are a set of awards and recognitions given out by DRAC (Downtown Residents Association of Columbus) to point out various people and developments in and around downtown. Sounds simple enough, right? Well the catch is that the awards are completely made up and their point is more often to poke fun and ridicule than it is to pat anyone on the back.

Consider it the annual “Roast” of Columbus.

Anyway, this year I was tapped to help brainstorm some ideas for the 2008 edition of the Dracies. As much as I love the City of Columbus, you can’t help but laugh at some of the things going on around us. And if you can’t laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at?

I don’t want to give away any secrets as to who or what is going to get roasted this year, but I will say that it’s going to be hilarious. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to do their best to check out this event. I’ll post more details as the date draws nearer.
