Gas is cheap again, time to bust out the Short Term Memory

A Dispatch article this week discusses the current drop in gas prices and the effect it could have. I enjoy paying as little as possible for gasoline just as much as the next guy, but I’m not about to go bust out a bottle of champagne over this news. Anyone who thinks this will be a long-term decrease is out of their mind.

Oh, hello there Jim Ritterbusch (president of energy consultants Ritterbusch and Associates). You have just won the coveted “Quote of the Week” title for making the following statement in the Dispatch article:

Ritterbusch expects low prices to gradually lead to a boost in fuel usage. He thinks the level of the increase will be one of the key variables that will affect prices next year. All of a sudden, “we could all be looking to buy SUVs again,” he said.

oh dear….seriously! Yeah, let’s all buy SUV’s. They’re terrible no matter how low gas is, still wastefull! ugh.

  2. The cynic in me looks at the lowered gas prices and thinks that the oil companies are trying to boost support for John McCain, the oil companies’ friend, before the election.
