I’ve been meaning to whip up a quick review of Details after our happy hour there two weeks ago, but I keep dropping the ball. So let me just cut to the chase and say that you need to check this place out if you haven’t already.
The fine folks at Details provided us with some complimentary snacks and appetizers during our event, which were really tasty, but the standouts for us were the extras we ordered. We tried out their house-made fries with a trio of sauces ($4)… smoked ketchup, avocado and an aioli, which were delicious. Any restaurant that makes their own ketchup from scratch gets bonus points in my book. We also tried out their tuna tartare tacos ($9), which were pretty amazing. They offer them as one of their weekly happy hour specials as well (I think on Tuesday) if you’re in the mood for some quality food at a lower price. I think they’re $5 during that special.
And if the food isn’t enough to get you in there, the drinks definitely should. They’ve got an impressive beer & wine menu that isn’t too overwhelming, and a cocktail menu that may be the best in the entire city. Lots of old fashioned drinks, and some with some updated twists. It could be the only drink menu in town that contains the wonderful Singapore Sling, one of my all-time favorite drinks. If you head over there on the right day, you might find Chris Dillman behind the bar, who is the most professionally accredited and knowledgeable person in the entire city when it comes to wine, beer, and drinks.
So anyway, that’s the short version. It’s really a place you need to go try for yourself. Some of the most high quality “bar food” in the city, great happy hour specials, and smart, friendly staff.
