The Columbus Metropolitan Club has put together their own “Young Professionals Committee” to establish an ongoing series of events aimed at attracting a younger demographic into their organization.
I was initially brought into the first meeting on the creation of this committee sort of as a consultant. I was asked to stick around to continue to help with the planning of these events.
The first official meeting was last week, in which the structure of the events were established. They will begin this fall and be held quarterly. No venues or guests have been finalized yet, but you can expect something similar to their daytime meetings on Wednesday with a guest speaker, and a social element. The CMC sounds like it want to differentiate itself from the other YP groups in Columbus that rely heavily on the social networking without offering much else in the way of content.
I’ll post more information on this as soon as I have it. If they’re able to land some of the guest speakers they want, it could have a pretty significant draw.
