Columbus Mega Summer Weekend 2008 – Vol. 7

The 29th Annual Jazz & Ribs Festival kicks off downtown today and runs through this weekend that is mostly dominated by smaller Independent Art events (we are the capital of that, after all). Cow Tipping will be happening at Junctionview Studios on Saturday, and on Sunday there will be an Artists Reception for a show at Caterina in German Village, as well as some local film and video shown at the Interactive Cinema show at Studio 35.

The Columbus Symphony Musicians will be putting on the first of three independent shows starting this weekend on Saturday at Vets Memorial. Lance Armstrong is also in town for the Livestrong Summit at OSU all weekend. And lastly, The Columbus Landmarks Foundation will be putting on a tour of the Woodland Park area this Saturday.

Have a great weekend, Columbus!

Will anybody else of note be at the Livestrong Summit?

  2. Walker says:

I heard that Kate Hudson was in town for it, and McCain was also attending. Otherwise I haven’t read much about it.

I wonder why the Summit chose Columbus? Perhaps something to do with the Arnold Classic? Since there was (supposed) to be a presidential candidate discussion on cancer, maybe Ohio’s “swing” status did it. OSU’s cancer center also seems to be in on the action, which is great.

These are the sort of events that Columbus is great at, but aren’t as flashy as presidential nominating conventions. Oh well.

It looks like another great weekend in Columbus. Thanks for compiling these events Walker and the rest of the crew at CU.

I’m sure Ohio’s swing status has a lot to do with it. We nearly landed the Republican National Convention, but fell short on the hotel facility requirements. Would have been great for the city right now. Pumps in millions of dollars and is very high profile.

Anyway, yeah, no problem. Glad people get some use out of the event postings. :D
