Chattanooga & Milwaukee – Spring 2008 Tour

SkybusOh Skybus…how you make me buy plane tickets to places I wasn’t planning on going… (sigh)

That’s right, I jumped on some cheap plane tickets this week when Skybus put up for sale their flights from March-to-May 08.

Anne and Desi and I will be headed to Chattanooga for a weekend in April and Milwaukee for a weekend in May. Who could pass it up for only $10 per ticket? (Ok, it ended up being $230 after taxes and fees for both trips, but that’s still pretty awesome for two people and a baby to fly to two cities!)

So anyway, I wanted to ask for some advice… what should we do while we’re in Chattanooga and Milwaukee? I’ve started doing a little bit of research, but we’ve still got a few months to plan. We don’t plan on renting a car, and are looking to stay near the downtown areas of each city, so mass transit is a must. I’m pretty excited that Chattanooga has a downtown electric bus shuttle that operates free of charge.

How weird does that sound? I’m excited to take a vacation in Chattanooga to ride a bus there. Am I the only person out there who thinks upon these same lines? Could it be possible that people are looking to vacation in Columbus Ohio for the unique/local aspects? Are young people the types who take vacations to visit landmarks like Alcatraz and the Empire State Building? Or are we looking for something else?
