Barrio Tapas – Mini Review

barrioJust got home from Barrio. I had the pork tacos. It’s technically on the tapas menu, but a good portion size for lunch. They get a thumbs up from me. They’re served on a long divided plate with your warm corn tortillas in foil, shredded pork in the middle, and garnishes on the side (cabbage, onion, jalapeno, tomato). So you assemble them just like most places serve fajitas. We also had a small side of their salsa, which sounds like will soon come with the tacos standard. I didn’t catch the actual name of the salsa, but it was orange and had a nice flavor profile; hint of mango with just the right amount of heat.

You can get the tacos either with beef, pork, fish, veggies, or chicken. After seeing how they were served I thought it would be a fun option to go with a group of 4-5 people andorder one of each so that everyone could assemble their own and try out a bunch of them.

And I should note too that service was impressively speedy, as many mexican/latin restaurants are generally know for. Maybe 5-8 minutes from placing our order until the food was served. If they can keep that speedy service on a regular basis this makes it a highly attractive lunch option for the downtown workers on a tight schedule.

Looking forward to going back and try out more menu options soon!
