This first piece is from Laura Alexander. She’s a local artist with a studio at Junctionview. She primarily does glass etching work with multiple layers of glass in wooden frames. We’ve seen her work hang at several shows and it’s always a standout. She also founded “spark!” which is a local monthly hang-it-yourself free-for-all show. It sounds like it would be chaotic, but it’s actually quite nice.
This piece was actually a housewarming gift from Laura, and we love it. It was our first new piece of art in our new home and while it’s found a temporary home on this side-table, we plan on hanging it up in our living room as we love how the blue walls show through the glass and make the white etching stand out.
So check out more of Laura Alexendar’s work! It’s great stuff!
Ooh! I really like this. My bedroom is almost that exact shade of blue, with similar-colored furniture and white accents. I have been looking for something to fill a spot on a wall – thanks for the great idea and spotlight on local artists.
