There was a writeup about 614 Magazine in The Lantern last week (found online right here). I was mostly pleased with it, but I thought a few of my quotes and paraphrasings came out a bit wonky. I don’t think it’s any fault of Matt Hancharick who wrote the article. I’m just being overly nitpicky. And since the interview was done via email, I have a written record of exactly what I said.
Here’s one of the pieces of the article that I thought was a bit of a strange rewording:
Evans said he always wanted to expand Columbus Underground into different media formats, but has never had adequate funding. Now, thanks to Lewis and Gaines, he is getting his wish.
What I said via email was:
I had toyed with the idea of someday branching Columbus Underground into other formats, and while the idea of a magazine is alluring, it’s a very expensive and risky startup without the backing that Clark and Wayne already have through UWeekly and other projects in other cities.
Here’s another strange part:
Evans said that although the magazine will be available at some campus locations, it will not be as widespread as UWeekly.
I uh… don’t have anything in my email where I said anything about distribution. Not sure where that came from.
Anyway, overall a nice preview peice. Just picking at a few details.
