15 Local Holiday Gift Ideas: #1 – Beltbuckle from Tigertree

This holiday season I’m encouraging everyone to shop smart and shop locally for their gifts. When you spend money on locally made products, that money stays within your community. You support small independent businesses and help the regional Columbus economy stay strong. If you’re having trouble coming up with gift ideas, well… this guide is for you. I’ll be posting 15 gift ideas over the next 15 days. Time to get your shopping done!

Gift Idea #1 – Beltbuckle from Tigertree

BeltbuckleTigertree is a boutique shop located in the Short North (771 N. High St.) that sells a variety of men’s and women’s fashion, accessories, and other household items. They carry a variety of national brands that are hard to find in Columbus, but also have their own product line called Maxine, Dear and create belt buckles and wallets from old children’s books. I’ve got a custom made wallet from them that gets constant compliments whenever I whip it out. They were also recently featured in Esquire’s Big Black Book 2008.

The belt buckle I’ve posted here is a sweet bear riding a horse. You can purchase their items online through their etsy store, but I’d advise that you stop by in person, chat up the owners (who are there pretty much all the time) and see what other items you might find.

Yeah, those buckles are hot. I share three with Chewla. Great gift idea. $23 too.
